


Czechoslovakia shirt worn by Josef Chovanec in the 1990 FIFA World Cup group stage clash against Italy (0:2). Game played in Rome on June 16 resulted in a 2:0 win for the host nation. Salvatore Schillaci and Roberto Baggio scored the goals. Chovanec played full 90 minutes, got booked with a yellow card and swapped shirts with an Italian player after the game. Czechoslovakia recorded 2 wins in their group A, against USA and Austria, destroyed Costa Rica in the Round of 16 but were unlucky against the future world champions Germany in the quarterfinals. Chovanec is a Sparta Prague legend. He took part in two major tournaments: the 1990 FIFA World Cup as a player and UEFA Euro 2000 as manager. Chovanec represented Czechoslovakia 52 times, scoring four goals. In 1986 was awarded Czech Footballer of the Year.
