Brazil shirt issued to Roberto Carlos for the 2002 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal against England (2:1). Game played in Shizuoka on June 21. The decisive moment of the game came in the 50th minute when iconic goal sent Brazil into the World Cup semi-finals, knocked the Three Lions out of the tournament and launched a promising 22-year-old playmaker from Porto Alegre into superstardom. Ronaldinho was expected to whip the ball into the middle of the box for a compatriot to attack. But the Brazilian curled an effort into the top corner - chipping an unsuspected David Seaman - to score one of the most iconic goals in World Cup history. The millions watching around the world couldn't believe what had just happened. Brazil went on to the final where they beat Germany 2:0 to claim their fifth world cup title. Roberto Carlos played full 90 minutes against England. He is considered to be one of the greatest full backs in history. Roberto Carlos made his debut for the Brazil national team in 1992. He played in three World Cups, helping the team reach the final in 1998 in France, and win the 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan. He earned 125 caps for the national team, scoring 11 goals and is nr.2, after Cafu, in Brazil's all-time ranking in terms of games played for the national team. Roberto Carlos is three times winner of the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid where he spent most of his career.
