


Germany shirt issued to Oliver Bierhoff for the Euro 96 quarterfinal against Croatia (2:1). Game played in Manchester on June 23. Shirt was swapped with Croatian CB Elvis Brajkovic after the game and comes from his personal collection. Bierhoff remained an unused substitute that day but went on to score the first golden goal in the history of major international football, for Germany in the Euro 96 final against Czechia, a career-defining performance that vaulted him into the international limelight. The prolific striker went on to earn 70 caps for the national team over 6 years, scoring 37 goals in total. He was also part of the German squad at the Euro 2000, as well as the FIFA World Cup Finals in France and Korea and Japan, where he finished with the silver medals. At club level, Bierhoff won the Serie A title with Milan back in 1999.
