Bulgaria shirt issued to Iliya Gruev for the historic World Cup qualifier against Russia. Game played at Vasil Levski stadium on September 10, 1997. Trifon Ivanov scored the only goal for the Bulgarians in the 56th minute and sealed the visas for the 1998 FIFA World Cup Finals in France. What makes this shirt truly unique is also the fact that a white home kit with an emroidered coat of arms (instead of the Bulgarian Football Union's crest) was only used in two games, vs Russia and Israel. Iliya Gruev remained an unused substitute in the game against the Russians. The midfielder went on to make 13 appearances for the national team in the period 1997 - 1999, scoring 1 goal.
