Turkiye shirt worn by Hakan Sukur in the 2002 FIFA World Cup group stage clash against Japan. Game played at Rifu on June 18 and resulted in a 1:0 win for the Balkan side. Umit Davala scored the only goal in the 12th minute. Turkiye will achieve their greatest ever World Cup success by reaching the third place playoff where they will beat the other host nation - Republic of Korea and claim the bronze medals. Sukur played full 90 minutes. Shirt comes from the personal collection of a member of the Turkish squad at the time. Nicknamed the "Bull of the Bosphorus", Hakan Sukur spent the majority of his professional career with Galatasaray, winning a total of 14 major titles, among which the historic UEFA Cup in 1999/2000. Sukur represented Turkiye a total of 112 times, scoring 51 goals, making him the nation's top goalscorer. One of the most prolific strikers of the modern era, he netted 383 goals throughout his club career as well as the fastest ever in a World Cup, against Republic of Korea in the bronze medals play-off.
