Ecuador was knocked out of the tournament after conceding two defeats to Mexico and Italy and winning their last game against Croatia. Tenorio made appearances in all three matches at the Mundial. He earned 50 caps for his country in the period 2001 - 2009, scoring 21 goals. The striker represented his nation at two World Cups. In the 2006 Finals in Germany, he scored against Poland and Costa Rica as Ecuador progressed to the second round.
