


Bulgaria shirt worn by Yordan Lechkov in the historic first victory of "The Lions" at the World Cup Finals. On June 26, 1994, at Soldier Field in Chicago, Dimitar Penev's squad beat Greece 4:0. Lechkov scored the third goal in the 66th minute. The attacking midfielder started in all seven games for Bulgaria at the 1994 FIFA World Cup Finals. He scored what is argubly the most important goal in the history of the Bulgarian national team - for 2:1 against the reigning world champion Germany in the quarterfinals. Lechkov was capped 45 times for the national team, scoring 5 goals. He was also a member of the squad for the 1996 European Championship in England. Lechkov is champion of Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia (1992) and has won the Bulgarian League Cup with Sliven (1990) as well as the Turkish League Cup with Besiktas (1998).
