Netherlands shirt worn by Marco van Basten in the International friendly match against Bulgaria (1:0). Game played at the Abe Lenstra stadium in Heerenveen on 4 September 1985. The only goal was scored by Rob de Wit in the 81st minute. The 20-year-old Van Basten stayed on the field for the full 90 minutes to earn his ninth cap for the senior team. Shirt was personally given years later by the legendary striker to his athletic coach at AC Milan - Vincenzo Pinciolini, from whose collection it was acquired. The "Swan of Utrecht" became one of the best Nr.9s of his time, scoring 219 goals in 281 games for Ajax and AC Milan, as well as 24 goals in 58 matches for the Dutch national team. Van Basten won the Eredivisie title three times with the giants from Amsterdam (1982, 1983, 1985), adding to his record three more KNVB trophies (1983, 1986, 1987) as well as the Cup Winners' Cup in 1987. With the "Rossoneri" from Milan, the great Nr.9 won everything in club football - the European Cup (1989, 1990), the Intercontinental trophy (1989, 1990), the European Super Cup (1989), the Coppa Italia (1988, 1992), adding to his record three Serie A titles (1988, 1992, 1993). For the Dutch national team, Van Basten and co. won their only international trophy in history - the European title in 1988. The striker became "Player of the Tournament" and won the "Golden Boot" award for his 5 goals - a hat-trick against England, the winning goal against West Germany in the semi-final and the unforgettable volley against the USSR in the final, which to date remains one of the most spectacular and beautiful goals ever scored. Van Basten is a three-time winner of the "Golden Ball" award (1988, 1989, 1992).
