The goalkeeper played full 90 minutes and gifted the shirt and the armband after the final whistle. Mihaylov made his senior International debut in the 5–1 defeat by Scotland in the Kirin Cup in Japan in May 2006. Since then he has earned 46 caps for his country. In 2011, the goalkeeper was awarded the Bulgarian Footballer of the Year prize. He has won the League title and the League cup of both Bulgarian and Dutch championships with Levski Sofia and Twente, respectively.
