The former Bulgarian International defender went on to make 53 appearances for the Austrian side in the period 1995-1997, scoring 7 goals. The bronze medalist with Bulgaria from the 1994 FIFA World Cup won the Austrian Bundesliga title in 1996 and reached the Cup Winners' Cup Final with Rapid that same year. The "iron" defender Ivanov, nickname "Tunio" made his senior debut for Bulgaria in 1988, earning 76 caps and scoring 6 goals over a ten-year international career. He was part of the squad at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups. "Tunio" is three times champion of Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia (1989, 1990, 1992) and has won the League cup in 1989. He was voted Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 1996.
