Due to an injury, the former Bulgarian International defender went on to make only 18 appearances for the Swiss side over 2 years, scoring 1 goal. Ivanov is champion of Switzerland with Basel in 2014 and 2015. He earned 40 caps for the national team, scoring 3 goals in the period 2008 - 2016. The defender is 2 times champion of Serbia with Partizan (2012, 2013). Ivanov was voted Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 2013.
