The former Bulgarian International striker went on to make 73 appearances for the club in the period 2010-2012, scoring 12 goals. The former captain of the national team earned 90 caps for his country in the period 2007 - 2019, scoring 18 goals. Popov is three times winner of the Bulgarian Footballer of the Year award (2015, 2016, 2017). He has won both the Bulgarian and the Russian League titles with Litex Lovech and Spartak Moscow, respectively.
