Chaves shirt worn by Lachezar Tanev in his only season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga – 1989/1990. During the campaign in which he played alongside the 1981 Golden Boot winner - Georgi Slavkov, Tanev recorded 36 matches and 9 goals in all tournaments for the Portuguese side. Then he moved for one season to the Spanish Sabadell, before returning to the ranks of CSKA Sofia. Lachezar Tanev's greatest career records are all linked with "The Reds". The youngster of Spartak (Pleven) recorded 226 matches and 85 goals in all tournaments with the red jersey. Tanev won the Bulgarian league title three times, the League Cup four times and the Bulgarian Super Cup on two occasions. In 1989, he reached the semi-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup, where CSKA Sofia were eliminated by Barcelona. Between 1983 and 1991, the attacking midfielder earned 25 caps and 5 goals for senior national team of Bulgaria.
