Argentina shirt issued to Ricardo Alvarez for the 2014 FIFA World Cup group stage clash against Nigeria. Game played in Porto Alegre on June 25 and resulted in a dramatic 3:2 win for Albiceleste. Alvarez came on as a subsitute to Lionel Messi in the 63th minute and this turned out to be his only appearance at the Mundial. Argentina went all the way to the final to meet Germany at Maracana but the Gauchos were left in tears after a brilliant goal by Mario Gotze deep in the extra time. Alvarez made his senior debut for Argentina on September 2, 2011 in an International friendly against Venezuela.
