Bulgaria shirt issued to Petar Houbchev for the 1996 European Championship in England. The Lions played all 3 games in white. During their first appearance at the Euros, Bulgaria recorded a draw with Spain (1:1), a historic first victory over Romania (1:0) and a 3:1 loss to France. At Euro'96 Houbchev was a starter against "La Furia Roja", before being sent off with a direct red card in the 72nd minute. The defender missed the success over our northern neighbors, then returned to the starting eleven in the defeat by the "roosters", ending Bulgarian dreams of something big. Petar Hubchev played 34 times for Bulgaria between 1984 and 1996. He was part of the “golden” generation that reached fourth place at the 1994 World Cup in the United States. The defender was a regular starter in all seven matches, and together with Krasimir Balakov, they were the two players who played all 660 minutes.
