The "Tulips" defeated the "Lions" after two goals from penalties by Johan Neeskens (5', 44'), and two more by Johnny Repp (71') and Theo de Jong (88'). Arie Haan is one of the most iconic figures in Dutch football and a true legend of the great Ajax team from the 70s which dictated the rules of football and won all possible prizes. The midfielder and "De Godenzonen" won three Eredivisie titles (1970, 1972 and 1973), three Dutch League Cups (1970, 1971, 1972) and were unstoppable in the European competitions. The "Sons of God", led by Rinus Michels and Stefan Kovacs, won the European Cup in three consecutive seasons (1971, 1972, 1973), adding to their record the Intercontinental Cup (1972) and the European Super Cup (1972, 1973). Afterwards, the long-haired midfielder enjoyed a successful spell in Belgium football, where he played for Anderlecht and Standard Liege. Between 1975 and 1983, Arie won three Belgian League titles (1981, 1982, 1983), the Belgian League Cup (1976), and won the the Cup Winners' Cup (1976, 1978) and the European Super Cup (1976, 1978) on two occasions each. In the period 1972-1980, the midfielder was capped 35 times for the Dutch national team, scoring 6 goals. Haan was part of the squad at the 1974 and 1978 FIFA World Cup, being unlucky to lose the final match of both tournaments.
