Bulgaria shirt issued to Trifon Ivanov for the 1996 European Championship in England. In their historic first appearance at the Euros "the lions" achieved first win (1:0 over Romania) and first draw (1:1 to Spain). Unfortunately, a 3:1 loss to France sent them third in Group B and Bulgaria did not advance to the knockout stage. The "iron" defender Ivanov, nickname "Tunio", played full 90 minutes in all three matches for his country. Ivanov made his senior debut for Bulgaria in 1988, earning 76 caps and scoring 6 goals over a ten-year international career. He was part of the squad at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups. "Tunio" is three times champion of Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia (1989, 1990, 1992) and has won the League cup in 1989. Moreover, he won the Austrian championship title with Rapid Wien in 1996 and is UEFA Cup Winners' Cup runner-up the same year. He was voted Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 1996.
